The weather outside is getting colder and its raining more often, so time to whip out those wellies. I have always had a pair since I was little and my grandmother brought me and my twin a matching pair of pink glittery ones for when we went stomping through the paddocks behind her house. There is something about a wellington that makes me feel like a child, makes me want to go jump in the puddles and make a mess. Being in Australia and having come out of a huge drought most people haven’t had a need for them (well unless you work on a farm or around animals) so I have put together some tips and tricks on how to incorporate them into your daily wardrobe.
1. SHOW SOME SKIN…
For the best result with this look balance your wellies with a trench coat that is at least a few inches longer than your skirt/dress/shorts.
2. MIX AND MATCH…
Match one colour in your outfit to your wellingtons to create a playful ensemble. Don’t be afraid to stand out, life is too short for boring clothes.
3. KNEE HIGH BABY…
Wear your favourite wellingtons with warm knee high or over the knee socks poking out, teamed with a cute skirt and a warm jacket is an outfit made in heaven. (the cute boy can be optional but it really makes the outfit)
4. DRESS IT UP…
Dont be afraid to wear your wellies with a dressy outfit (NO I don’t mean an evening gown or cocktail wear, although I have seen it done at weddings) Pearls + wellington boots = Happy Cassie
5. FESTIVAL STYLE…
Wear your wellingtons with your favourite dungarees (overalls) and off you go to Glastonbury.
6. PREPPY STYLING…
Pair your black quilted hunter wellingtons with a cute flippy skirt, white blouse and blazer for a winter preppy school girl look.
7. GO NEUTRAL…
Let your wellies do the talking, make them the statement piece of your outfit. Enjoy the comments of passers by.
8. KEEP IT CLASSIC…
Nothing beats a classic trench, skinny jeans and a bright pair of red wellies. It’s classic, chic and timeless.
9. SAILING AWAY…
Team your bold wellingtons with stripes, blazers, anything that is nautical for a sea change.
Team your wellingtons with black stockings, warm knit socks, chunky knitted cardigan and a warm dress or skirt.
WHERE TO BUY THEM AT THE MOMENT????
ASOS have a huge range of wellingtons, including hunter ones, all at reasonable prices but there are also some in stores at the moment.
how do you like to wear your wellingtons?
