Kate Spade presented her spring/summer 2013 collection at New York Fashion Week and gave the fashion world a lighthearted, bright colored collection for the warm weather season. The spring 2013 collection designed by Kate Spade offered 1950’s inspiration, bright colors and kitschy designs which created a playful collection that shows the kitschy trend of 2012 will continue into 2013.
The kitschy handbags shown by Kate Spade for spring 2013 were shown mainly asclutches and offered quirky designs such as sunglasses, candy boxes, comic books and an old fashioned radio. The more serious designs, such as satchels and shoulder bags, were shown in bright colors; both tonal and color blocked.
Kate Spade paired the kitschy handbag collection with 1950’s silhouettes, prints and hairstyles in bright colors reminiscent of the 1960’s, 1980’s and 2012. The addition of 1970’s inspired platform shoes gave the overall collection a modern, fresh vibe which was playful and reminded the world that fashion is a lighthearted form of art.
Kate Spade’s use of prints, bright colors, color blocking and polka dots also signaled that these trends which were big for spring 2012 will also be carried into the spring 2013 season.
Oh, how I adore Kate Spade!!! Love this entire collection!
