being a vegan in a meat eaters world is becoming increasingly hard.
there are temptations everywhere, friends eating chocolate, grandparents making the banana cake that i used to love when i was younger, my dad bringing home chicken filos for dinner. now this food doesnt make my mouth water or make me want to eat it, as i would never go back to being a carnivor or even a normal vegitarian, but it does make me realise how much being a vegan means missing out on a lot.
for example, on monday night my family and i all met up in Queenscliff to get ice cream (in my case Gelati/sorbet) from the amazing scandinavian ice cream parlor. to my horror and great dismay i found that i could not partake in the summer/spring custom with my family becasue even though they have a range of special sorbets that dont have egg or dairy in them, they now put gelitaine in them to help stabalise the mixture! so no sweat cold yummyness for me anymore. i had to settel for a .90 cent icey pole from foodworks.
but when i found this amazing bakery in NYC (not that i have been there) called BABY CAKES, i was beyond scream worthy happy.
you want to know the secret of the bakery???
